The Lekki-Epe expressway

The Lekki-Epe Expressway can be found in the Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos State which can be said to be one of the richest LGA (Local Government Area) in Nigeria – arguably. But this LGA which start from Obalende and stretches all the way to Sangotedo seems to be boundless. On the flip side and conversely speaking some people refer to the Island as Lekki, others are clearly trying to say Victoria Island. And yet still there is an LGA called Lagos Island.

Lagos State has 20 LGAs but only 3 (Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki and Epe) of them seem to be enjoying massive infrastructural and economic advancement. From manufacturing plants to the proposed international airport, the ongoing deep sea port and unprecedented investments in Real Estate. This axis of Lagos State can be compared in terms of investments made during the California Gold Rush. There is no gold in this eastern axis of Lagos State but investment in Real Estate is pure gold!

The Lekki-Epe Expressway

Most major cities all over the world were built around water bodies as this made it easy for moving goods and services. Lagos State is naturally endowed with water bodies and this makes it ideal to be one top destination for investments. Ideally, the State should have an elaborate network of boat/ferry transportation system but this is not the case. Even with the proposed deep sea port at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, the road system is about to be burdened even more.

This is why the  Lekki-Epe expressway is to be considered one of the most important and busiest in Lagos State. According to Google maps, the road starts from Law School, in Victoria Island all the way to, well as the name implies Epe. The rehabilitation of the road from 2 lanes to its present 4 lanes has been on for over a decade now. As of 2016, one side of the traffic at Elegushi roundabout accounts for 50,000 vehicles. This expansion project has presented a new opportunity for the inhabitants both in commerce and value of the landed property market.

There is a lot of Investment opportunities Along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The much talked about Lagos State investment opportunity has been in the  Real Estate sector. With the highway littered with Signboards of the interesting investment portfolio in landed properties and houses for sale. Other investment that has been made by companies and private citizens ranges from schools, shopping complexes, event centres and all types of small businesses. For example, Domino’s Pizza has 5 outlets along the stretch. Opportunities in this area are limitless.
